Number of students in class: 20. However, I am applying on behalf of my kindergarten classroom teaching partner, who also has a class of 20 students.
Name of Project: “21st Century Kindergarten” (Room 416)
Description of Project: This project continues the effort to create a 21st century kindergarten classroom in Sumner’s Room 416. I have a MacBook laptop and an Interwrite pad with which I can create digital lessons in phonics and math, as well as stream educational videos, search for relevant information, and interact with educational websites. These 21st century teaching and learning tools will be available to all Room 416 students with an LCD projector. This tool will add to the effectiveness of those already being used in our class.
Potential Benefits of Projects: Having tools for teaching that are current and useful for the rigorous standards we are expected to teach is very beneficial. Another benefit is that students become more engaged in activities that are digital. In addition, they will have the opportunity to interact with projected materials.
Just a reminder that this is NOT the place to vote if you are on the EBOA or the FDC. You are welcome here to post questions to the charity that are not addressed in the application on the Group board.

Have we changed the format so that they amount requested does not appear? I'm neutral on this one. Do 5 year olds really interact with this level of technology? Okay, so I just showed my age, I guess. But I can see how age appropriate material could be projected so that would get a yes vote.

The amount requested info is in the Board's private area. But I am in total agreement with you in terms of age appropriateness. There are fabulous uses for technology within that age group - I am just not sure this is one of them. Glad to have your input!
